To improve weather forecasting accuracy in Shravasti and neighbouring districts, the state wing of NDMA has installed three automatic weather stations and 15 rain gauges. These advanced systems are designed to provide precise forecasts and ensure timely access to critical weather data.

With this, a team of weather scientists and engineers conducted an on-site inspection this Monday, where local officials were briefed on the operation and maintenance of the newly installed equipment.

New systems beneficial in identifying rainfall related calamities

Uttar Pradesh's agricultural regions frequently suffer from flood-related issues, which can significantly damage crops and livestock. A more effective weather prediction system has long been needed in rural areas to help detect heavy rainfall patterns and mitigate the impact of such calamities.

Disaster dept. specialist Arun Kumar Mishra emphasised that one automatic weather station has been set up in each tehsil, with three rain gauges deployed across every block. These devices will collect vital information, including rainfall, wind speed, temperature, humidity, wind direction, and atmospheric pressure, enabling more accurate weather predictions.

With real-time data now readily available, scientists will be better equipped to make precise forecasts, benefiting sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, travel, VIP visits, and major public events.
