Week-long 'Nature and Bird Festival' kicks off in Uttar Pradesh's wildlife reserves

With the upcoming occasion of World Wetlands Day, observed annually on February 2, various events are set to take place in wildlife parks and natural reserves across Uttar Pradesh. Commencing today at the Chandrashekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary in Nawabganj, Unnao, these events namely, 'Nature and Bird Festival' will extend throughout the week.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the UP State Forest Minister and other dignitaries. World Wetlands Day, commemorated every February 2, honors the United Nations' adoption of the Convention on Wetlands in 1971.

Forest spots in UP to celebrate Nature and Bird Festival

Following the inaugural day of the 'Nature and Bird Festival,' a series of events have been scheduled throughout the week:

  • January 28: Events will unfold at Govind Sagar Dam, Lalitpur Forest Division, Lalitpur.

  • January 29: Activities will be held at Bakhira Wildlife Sanctuary in Sant Kabir Nagar Forest Division.

  • January 30: An event is slated at Lakhbahosi Bird Sanctuary in Kannauj.

  • January 31: A state-level event will take place at Surajpur Wetland, Gautam Buddha Nagar Forest Division.

  • February 1: Engagements are planned at Prayagraj Sangam area, Social Forestry Division.

  • February 2: Concluding the week's festivities, events will occur at Haiderpur Wetland, Muzaffarnagar Forest Division.

Events aligned at Kukrail park, Lucknow on Feb 2

In addition to the aforementioned events, World Wetlands Day will also be celebrated at the Kukrail Gharial Park and forest reserve in Lucknow, as is customary every year on February 2nd. The celebration will encompass a range of activities tailored for school children, along with insightful addresses from various experts, including biologists and forestry specialists.
