In a remarkable engineering achievement, Sagar Defence Engineering’s autonomous surface vessel has successfully completed a pioneering 1,500-km voyage from Mumbai to Thoothukudi without human intervention. This historic journey, supported by the Indian Navy, underscores India’s growing prowess in autonomous maritime technology.

The ‘Sagarmala Parikrama’ voyage was virtually flagged off on October 29 during the Swavlamban event, hosted by the Navy's Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO).

This milestone showcases India’s capability to develop autonomous maritime systems vital for national security. It highlights the nation’s commitment to aatmanirbharta in defence technology and opens the door to future applications in both military and civilian sectors, including coastal surveillance, anti-piracy, and littoral patrol missions.
