In anticipation of a significant passenger traffic surge during the upcoming festival season, the Western Railway has announced temporary restrictions on platform ticket sales at key Mumbai railway stations. This move, effective immediately until the 8th of November, 2024.

The restrictions are effective immediately and will remain in place until the 8th of November 2024, covering Diwali and Chhath Puja. This decision follows a stampede at Bandra Railway Station on Sunday morning, which resulted in critical injuries and chaos.

Affected stations include:

  • Mumbai Central

  • Dadar

  • Bandra Terminus

  • Borivali

  • Vasai Road

  • Vapi

  • Valsad

  • Udhna

  • Surat

Concurrently, the Northern Railway has implemented restrictions at major stations including New Delhi, Nizamuddin, Ghaziabad, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Rohilla, which will remain in effect until the 7th of November. Senior citizens and individuals with medical needs are exempt from these restrictions.
