Western Railway (WR) is tackling the long-standing issue of haphazardly parked auto-rickshaws outside Bandra West Railway Station with an innovative solution — a new open-air restaurant-on-wheels.

Earlier this month, authorities stationed a decommissioned railway coach near the heritage Bandra Station, which is set to be transformed into a vibrant dining space.

New coach to combine food and live performances

The coach will be converted into a cosy dining space, offering both indoor and outdoor seating with a unique cultural theme. The open-air area and live music stage will transform the station into a vibrant cultural hub, while also preventing vehicles from occupying station property.

Additionally, the area outside Platform 1's main entrance is being considered for an art gallery, further enhancing the station’s appeal. Bandra Station, a Grade-1 heritage site, has been recently restored at a cost of ₹12 crore, preserving its cultural charm.

Located near the Government Railway Police (GRP) Station, the restaurant is set to attract foodies and music lovers, with plans for cultural events and gigs to foster a sense of community. With minimal bureaucratic hurdles, the venture is set to be a successful addition to Bandra’s vibrant landscape.
