IIT Bombay to Amity: 5 universities in Mumbai lead at QS World University Rankings - Asia 2025
Mumbai, a thriving education hub, has once again made its mark on the global stage. Per the recent QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025, 5 of the city’s prestigious institutions have secured noteworthy positions, underscoring its growing prominence in higher education.
Leading the charge is Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), ranked 48th with an employer reputation score of 99.5% and an academic reputation score of 96.6%. Joining the ranks are University of Mumbai at 245, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) at 336, SVKM’s NMIMS (Deemed to be University) in the 701-750 band, and Amity University Mumbai in the 801-850 band.
The Government of India proudly highlighted the nation’s progress in a press release, stating, “This edition highlights India's impressive upward trajectory in higher education across the continent. India boasts two institutions within the top 50 and seven in the top 100 of the QS Asia Rankings 2025.”

QS World University Rankings
Established in 2004, QS World University Rankings is a globally respected benchmark for higher education that evaluates universities on critical factors such as research and discovery. This ranking assesses 984 institutions covering 25 countries in Eastern, Southern, South-Eastern and Central Asia.
Notably, India stands out with the highest number of institutes in the latest rankings, showcasing a diverse array of both emerging and well-established universities.
