Knocksense Shorts | 16 ft. tall 'Canadacha Raja' shipped from Mumbai to Toronto, in a first!
This year marks a remarkable moment for Mumbaikars, as a 16-feet idol named "Canadacha Raja" has been shipped from Mumbai to Toronto, for Ganeshotsav 2023 celebrations.
The event agency, Blue Peacock Entertainment, organising the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav in Toronto, will be celebrating the festival with the help of the city authorities. It is the first time that such an idol has been sent overseas for Ganeshotsav festivities.
Kalasagar Arts, located in the Lalbaug area of Mumbai, under the aegis of the sculptor, Nikhil Khatu, can be credited with this milestone. Kalasagar Arts has a history of creating prominent public Ganesha idols, including the Andhericha Raja and Fortcha Raja.
The theme of the idol is 'Raja' with a 'Raja Baithak', just like Lalbaugcha Raja. Khatu stated that the idol would be immersed in a huge 20x20 ft. artificial pond, instead of a real one.
Given the upcoming Ganeshotsav in Mumbai, there was also a review meeting held at BMC Headquarters, to discuss the preliminary arrangements. 15 days before the big day, the necessary steps will be taken to make sure everything is in order, like planning the immersion route, making sure there are no potholes along the way, and adding more artificial ponds to the city for the immersion of Ganesha idols. Furthermore, special attention will be given to properly dismantle the POP idols after immersion.
