Knocksense Shorts | Gokhale Bridge and Barfiwala Flyover to be linked in Phase 2 of project

Citizens' criticism regarding the mismatched alignment between Andheri’s Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge and the CD Barfiwala Flyover, has prompted BMC to respond. The civic officials clarified, that in the first phase, the two structures were not aligned due to sloping in opposite directions. This merger would have led to steep sloping carriageways and frequent accidents.

P. Velrasu, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), explained that the Railways mandated a minimum overhead clearance of six meters, resulting in an increased height for the Gokhale Bridge and a mismatched level with the Barfiwala Flyover. The alignment will be addressed in the second phase of the project based on recommendations from IIT and VJTI.
