This week, BMC issued a green light for the 2.06 km-long cable-stayed flyover connecting Madh to Versova. This flyover will cut travel time from over 45 minutes to just 5 minutes. Currently, the journey involves navigating Link Road, S.V. Road, or the Western Express Highway, with the jetty service often suspended during monsoons. The project is expected to be complete in the next 3 years.

Six months after the tenders were floated, the project’s cost has seen a 60% rise, jumping from ₹1,800 crore to ₹3,246 crore due to market fluctuations and additional project elements.

The winning bidder, APCO Infratech Private Limited, initially quoted ₹2,029 crore, but the final cost now reflects updated estimates for labour, materials, and other factors such as rent for casting yards and three years of bridge maintenance.
