Get ready for some pre-monsoon relief in Maharashtra! Starting May 9, thunderstorms and pre-monsoon showers are set to paint the skies in various districts. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph in Madhya Maharashtra, the Ghats, and the South Konkan region from Sunday onwards.

Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg will likely experience light rain or thundershowers this weekend. Meanwhile, thunderstorms are on the horizon for Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, Kolhapur, and neighboring districts around Mumbai from May 10.

However, Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar might enjoy dry weather, as per the IMD. Mumbai can expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures hovering around 34-35°C during the day and 27-28°C at night. Recently, a high sea wave alert was issued for Mumbai for 36 hours, with IMD attributing these weather patterns to a cyclonic circulation over the northeast Arabian Sea and the adjoining Gujarat coast.

"Indian Weatherman" forecasts rain in Mumbai

However, "Indian Weatherman", a self-acclaimed meteorologist in Mumbai stated that thunderstorms and rains are likely in Mumbai, particularly Thane and Raigad interiors, starting this Sunday. Areas like Badlapur, Karjat, Kalyan-Dombivali, and Panvel, nearer to the Ghats, have the highest likelihood of experiencing thunderstorms.
