Maharashtra Govt's new scheme takes senior citizens on free pilgrimages across India
The Maharashtra Government has launched a new scheme for people over the age of 60, providing free pilgrimage to 139 religious sites across India. Named the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, this scheme will feature 73 sites from around the country and 66 sites within Maharashtra.

Under the scheme, senior citizens can submit applications to go on free pilgrimages and the beneficiaries will be chosen by lottery. Notably, those with an annual income of up to ₹2,50,000 will receive a total of ₹30,000 to cover the travel, accommodation, and food expenses on their pilgrimage.
The list of religious sites included under the scheme feature the most prominent destinations like Vaishno Devi, Golden Temple, Ayodhya's Ram Temple, Jagannath Puri, and Char Dham Yatra among others.
