Mumbai Airport logged 4.36 M commuters last month; 131% recovery in pax numbers since April 2019
Welcome aboard as we take flight into Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport's (CSMIA) April accomplishments, revealed by recent statistics:
CSMIA experienced a 131% recovery in passenger numbers, compared to April 2019 (pre-pandemic).
It recorded a staggering passenger traffic figure surpassing 4.36 million, an impressive 42% surge compared to April 2022 and a notable 9% rise from April 2023.
The airport played host to a total of 26,870 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), including 19,892 domestic and 6,978 international ATMs during April 2024.
Further on April 14, in particular, CSMIA recorded the highest single-day traffic recorded at a remarkable 156,793 passengers, with 1,13,540 domestic 43,253 international movements.
CSMIA handled a total of 3.47 million bags during April 2024. This marks an impressive 11.61% year-on-year surge compared to April 2023 (3.11 million).
Delving into the realm of destinations, the top three domestic hotspots showcasing the highest passenger traffic from CSMIA remained consistent with Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Meanwhile, on the international front, cities like Dubai, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi have been noted as the preferred destinations.
