Mumbai Airport records 27 million passengers between April and September 2024
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai has reported significant growth in passenger traffic and cargo handling for the first half of 2024. From April to September 2024, the airport welcomed a total of 26,882,130 passengers, reflecting a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
International passenger figures rose by 11%!
Notably, international passenger numbers surged by 11%, with 7,427,829 international travellers recorded from April to September 2024, up from 6,682,122 in the previous year. Domestic travel also saw a positive trend, with a 3% increase in passenger numbers, bringing the total domestic count to 19,254,301.
Cargo handling at the airport also experienced robust growth, with a 13% increase, processing 447,435 metric tons (MT) of cargo in the first half of the 2024-25 financial year, compared to 397,654 MT in the same period last year. This included 120,160 MT of domestic cargo and 327,275 MT of international cargo.
The boost in cargo operations is attributed to new airline partners, including Challenge Air, Vietnam Airlines, and SF Airlines, underscoring Mumbai Airport’s expanding role as a key player in international air transport.
