Mumbai mornings hit 20°C with moderate AQI; know forecast for the week ahead
Mumbai greeted its residents with a refreshing chill today morning as temperatures in the suburbs dropped to around 20°C, marking the onset of cooler weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that the minimum temperature will remain between 21°C and 22°C over the coming days, providing a welcome break from the heat.
However, the IMD advises residents not to get too cosy in their winter wear just yet, as the city's weather is expected to remain unpredictable.
Temperature dip in Mumbai, rain expected in some areas-
As temperatures continue to dip, Mumbai's Air Quality Index (AQI) registered a moderate 144 at 8 AM, based on data from the CPCB's Bandra MPCB stations. Santacruz also recorded a temperature of 20.4°C, which is 1.4°C lower than usual for this time of year. Meanwhile, the IMD's Colaba observatory logged a minimum temperature of 23.5°C on Wednesday, just slightly lower than the previous day's 23.6°C.
While Mumbai experiences a cool-down, other parts of Maharashtra, particularly in the north, are facing cold and dry weather. South Maharashtra, however, is bracing for heavy rain and gusty winds, with districts like Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Kolhapur seeing intense weather conditions.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to rise again later in the week, with Santacruz's minimum temperatures forecasted to climb to between 25°C and 26°C.
