The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced that the Ranji Trophy Final will take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium from March 10 to 14, 2024. This decision came following Mumbai's qualification for the Final, marking its 48th appearance in the title clash. The MCA, backing the historical significance of Wankhede Stadium, opted for this venue, renowned for hosting the 2011 World Cup.

Mumbai gets the home advantage due to its superior performance

Mumbai Cricket Team secured its spot in the final after a convincing victory over Tamil Nadu, at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy (SPCA) in BKC. And now, despite awaiting an official confirmation of the venue, MCA is poised to host the final as per tournament rules, favouring the higher-ranked team. Mumbai team's superior performance throughout the league stage grants them the home advantage.

Ajinkya Naik, the MCA secretary, expressed the significance of Wankhede Stadium, considering Mumbai's cricket legacy and community. While Mumbai played most home games at the suburban facility, Wankhede remains a symbolic ground, except for one loss this season against Uttar Pradesh.

Although SPCA was preferred for knockouts due to pitch conditions and IPL preparations, MCA is inclined towards Wankhede Stadium. This decision aligns with broadcast needs and spectator convenience as well, avoiding any criticism for prioritising IPL over Ranji.
