The festival of colours is around the corner and celebrations that are larger-than-life await us. Don't believe us? Preparations for a glorious ‘Rangotsav’ are in full swing to enchant our Holi festivities this year.

The grand festival will be taking place in Mathura (one of the three towns, along with Vrindavan and Barsana, forming the Braj region), which is associated with the childhood home of Lord Krishna. This March 25, join the fervour of the sacred city in Uttar Pradesh, as it rests in its ancient glory, for a festival to remember!

'Once-in-a-lifetime experience': Holi at Braj

The event is being organised by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad (UPBTVP) and culture department. “Holi in Mathura and Vrindavan is a lively celebration, deeply woven into the fabric of the region’s cultural and religious history. Rooted in the tales of Lord Krishna’s early life spent in Vrindavan, the festivities here are a kaleidoscope of unique rituals and joyous gatherings that attract people from around the globe," expressed the minister of culture and tourism, Jaiveer Singh.

“We will make sure that they get a once-in-a-lifetime experience which will make them want to come back year after year,” he added.

The event aims at boosting the tourism potential of the three places that are considered as sacred by the devotees. Painted in deep historical and cultural narratives, Mathura, Vrindavan and Barsana hold a special place in people's heart. The three towns joyously join the grandeur that the Holi celebrations see each year.

The tradition involves the celebrations to spread across 40 days, starting a week before Holi. It is kicked off with Barsana’s Laddu Holi and Lathmar Holi, where, as per convention, women playfully beat men with sticks.

To join in the grandeur and glory this March 25, all we've to do is get our gangs on board and plan for an experience extraordinaire!
