Monday morning greeted Mumbai with cloudy skies, gusty winds, and light to moderate rain showers. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), these conditions are set to continue, with heavier rains anticipated later in the day for both the city and its suburbs.

The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for tomorrow, warning of intense rainfall in several parts of the city.

Cyclonic circulation brings heavy rain warnings to Mumbai

Starting with a minimum temperature of 24°C, the mercury is predicted to climb to a high of 28°C. South-westerly winds at 5.6 km/h are sweeping through the financial capital, bringing relief from recent heatwaves.

The IMD has issued an Orange lert for July 16, warning of potential heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. This weather pattern is attributed to a cyclonic circulation over north Gujarat, affecting the broader region.

Despite the wet conditions, the city's Air Quality Index for PM10 particles remains at a satisfactory level of 75, allowing most residents to carry on with their daily activities comfortably.

Residents are advised to prepare for possible waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The heavy rains are expected to persist throughout the week, marking the firm establishment of the monsoon season in Mumbai. Additionally, beaches like Juhu and Versova have been shut down to public, owing to high tides.
