Wet weekend ahead! Mumbai hit by heavy rainfall; Orange Alert issued for Central Maharashtra

Mumbai has weathered severe conditions over the past two days, with heavy rain lashing the city. Wednesday’s downpour continued into yesterday morning, causing disruptions such as waterlogged streets and traffic jams. While the local train network, the city’s lifeline, slowed briefly, it resumed normal operations.

Today, Mumbai woke to a cloudy sky after last night’s heavy showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any alerts for Mumbai today, but significant rainfall is expected throughout the day. Alerts might be issued later if conditions change.

Additionally, an Orange Alert has been issued for Central Maharashtra, particularly Dhule, Nandurbar, and Nasik, while a Yellow Alert is in effect for 19 other cities across the state.

Moreover, IMD reported on Thursday that Pune recorded 133.0 mm of rainfall, marking it as the third highest ever recorded and the highest for the month of September.

Starting September 27 , the temperature in Mumbai is expected to range between 23°C and 31°C, with a generally cloudy sky accompanied by moderate rain. This pattern is expected to persist on September 28-29, with the temperature slightly rising to 24°C and 25°C respectively. The rain, although moderate, is expected to continue, marking a wet end to the month.
