Mumbai's highly-awaited Metro Line-3  (Colaba to SEEPZ) is on the brink of fruition, with Phase 1 nearing 90% completion. The rollout of passenger services between Aarey and BKC is anticipated soon, followed by Phase 2, six months later.

Enhanced connectivity for Mumbai

Rigorous trials between BKC and Aarey are underway to ensure stringent safety standards before passenger operations begin. Integrated train trial runs for Phase 1 operations, covering a 12.44 km stretch with 10 stations, are currently ongoing, including 9 underground stations and one at-grade terminal station at Aarey.

The line aims to cater to 17 lakh passengers daily, linking major business hubs and amenities across the city-

  • Phase 1 services will operate at a frequency of 6.5 minutes between Aarey and BKC

  • Phase 2 services will run at a frequency of 3.2 minutes between BKC and Cuffe Parade

  • Each trip is expected to accommodate approximately 2500 passengers

  • The metro line will enhance connectivity to major business centers including Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade, Fort, Lower Parel, BKC, and SEEPZ/MIDC

  • It will also provide access to numerous educational institutes, hospitals, religious places, and recreational facilities

While details regarding fares are pending, transport experts anticipate the project to revolutionise Mumbai's commuting landscape, offering a seamless and efficient travel experience for its residents.
