Health Ministry notifies new specified warnings for tobacco products
The Union Health Ministry notified new specified warnings for all tobacco products. The amended rules will be applicable from December 1 and remain valid for a period of 12 months.
All tobacco products manufactured, imported or packaged on or after December 1, 2022, will have to display a textual Health Warning as 'TOBACCO CAUSES PAINFUL DEATH'.
Those manufactured, imported or packaged on or after December 1, 2023, will display another image with the textual health warning 'TOBACCO USERS DIE YOUNGER'.
Any person engaged directly or indirectly in the manufacture, production, supply, import or distribution of cigarettes or any tobacco products shall ensure that all packages will have the specified health warnings exactly as prescribed. The violation of the provision is a punishable offence with imprisonment or a fine.
Private liquor shops to remain open for a month in Delhi
Private liquor shops in the national capital which were scheduled to shut down from Monday can now remain open for one month.
The Delhi government has decided to extend existing licences of liquor shops till August 31, sources reported. However, the shops will open only after the Excise Department's order following getting the approval from Lieutenant Governor.
According to sources, the AAP government has sent the decision of its Cabinet to extend existing liquor vend licences for one month, up to August 31, to the L-G. At least 468 private liquor shops in the city were supposed to shut down from Monday after the expiry of their licences the previous day.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government has given an extension of two months to liquor shops with an L-3/33 license to operate till September 30.

Sweden, India strengthen financial cooperation with formal exchange between FI & IFSCA
Sweden's financial supervisory authority, Finansinspektionen (FI), formally exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in relation to mutual cooperation with India's International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
The event marked a significant leap between the two partner nations, strengthening their financial cooperation.
The MoU sets forth a statement of intent of the Authorities to establish a framework for mutual assistance and to facilitate the exchange of information between the Authorities for development, regulation and enforcing or ensuring compliance with their respective law or regulatory requirements.
With a formal MoU in place directing all the operations transparently, both IFSCA and FI will co-operate on the basis of mutual trust and understanding to develop and regulate the exchange and knowledge sharing of financial products, financial services and financial institutions.
IFSCA and FI have many common areas to work together such as FinTech, Sustainable Finance and Anti Money Laundering (AML), among others.
India gets new World Bank Country Director
Auguste-Tanoa-Kouame is the World Bank's Country Director for India, effective on Monday. He replaces Junaid Kamal Ahmad who recently completed a five-year term.
Auguste, a national of Cote d'Ivoire, most recently served as the World Bank's Country Director for Turkey where he led the expansion of the bank's country programme and deepened its support for Ankara's climate agenda.
Prior to this, he served as Director of the Department of Human Development and Economic Management in the World Bank Group's Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) from January 2017 to April 2019.
India is the World Bank Group's largest client with a portfolio that includes lending of $3.98 billion from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and $83 million (or 0.08 billion) from the International Development Association (IDA) last fiscal (July 2021-June 2022).

GST collection in July second highest ever
GST collection in July stood at ₹1,48,995 crore, the second highest since the introduction of GST. The collection for July is 28% higher than the GST revenues recorded in the same month last year of ₹1,16,393 crore.
Of the total GST collection, Central GST is ₹25,751 crore, State GST is ₹32,807 crore, Integrated GST is ₹79,518 crore and cess is ₹10,920 crore, a statement from the finance ministry informed.
For five months in a row, the monthly GST revenues have been more than ₹1.4 lakh crore
The government has settled ₹32,365 crores to Central GST and ₹26,774 crores to State GST from Integrated GST. The total revenue of the Centre and the states in July after the regular settlement is ₹58,116 crore for CGST and ₹59,581 crore for the SGST.

India, Vietnam to hold 3rd edition of bilateral army exercise
The Third Edition of Vietnam-India Bilateral Army Exercise "Ex VINBAX 2022" is scheduled to be conducted at Chandimandir from August 1 to 20, 2022.
The conduct of Ex VINBAX - 2022 as a field training exercise with enhanced scope from previous editions of bilateral exercises will strengthen mutual confidence, and inter-operability and enable sharing of best practices between the Indian Army and Vietnam People's Army.
The joint exercise will also provide an opportunity for the troops of both the Contingents to learn about the social and cultural heritage of each other. Indian Army is being represented by troops from the 105 Engineer Regiment.
A 48 hours Validation Exercise is part of the schedule to assess the standards achieved by both contingents while executing technical military operations under similar scenarios in UN missions.

Several OnePlus 10T specs revealed: faster charging and 16GB of RAM are coming!
The OnePlus 10T will be on sale next week, and the company has already shared details about its design and important specifications, including the SoC, cameras, RAM, storage, and screen refresh rate. Now, OnePlus has provided battery information for the 10T.
The 10T will have a 4,800 mAh battery, which is 200 mAh less than the battery in the 10 Pro but offers quicker charging. The OnePlus 10T will enable 150W charging, which, according to OnePlus, can charge the 4,800 mAh battery from 0 to 100 per cent in just 19 minutes.
Also, the company has confirmed that the phone will house a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood, and will come with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

CWG 2022: Indian weightlifter Achinta Sheuli clinches gold medal in men's 73kg final
Indian weightlifter Achinta Sheuli clinched a gold medal with a combined lift of 313kg in the men's 73kg final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Sunday.
With this, he won the country its sixth medal at CWG 2022 and its third gold medal at the event. It is three out of three for Achinta, as he lifted 143kg in his last attempt in the snatch round to create a new Commonwealth Games Record.
In the Clean and Jerk lift category, Achinta exhibited a stunning display of power as he lifted 166kg in his first attempt. In the second attempt of the category, he decided to lift 170 kg but failed. In the third and last attempt of the C&J category, he lifted 170kg with ease.
With a successful lift of 170kg in his third clean and jerk attempt, Achinta Sheuli finished with a total of 313kg (143kg + 170kg).
He ended up adding the sixth medal to India's tally by capturing a gold medal.
